We are delighted to announce that the 2027 ACFEA Biennial Conference will be held in the beautiful city of Busan, Korea! We warmly invite scholars, researchers, and professionals from around the world to join us for this exciting academic gathering and to experience the unique beauty, culture, and hospitality of Busan, Korea’s second-largest city. For the first time in ACFEA’s history, our biennial conference will take place in Busan. We are excited to bring our global community together in this vibrant coastal city and look forward to sharing an inspiring and memorable conference experience with all of you.

About the ACFEA Biennial Conference
The Asian Consumer and Family Economics Association (ACFEA) has held its biennial conference since 1995. To date, 15 biennial conferences have been held in countries and regions across Asia and North America, including Malaysia (1995), China (1997), Korea (1999), China (2001), Taiwan (2003), the United States (2005), Malaysia (2007), Japan (2009), Korea (2011), Taiwan (2014), Hong Kong (2016), China (2018), a virtual conference (2020), Japan (2023), and Vietnam (2025).
The overall objective of the ACFEA Biennial Conference is to advance research and knowledge that contribute to improving the well-being of consumers and families, as well as the performance of businesses, in an era of rapid change and ongoing disruptions across many aspects of our lives.
The biennial conference provides an excellent platform for scholars and researchers to present their latest work, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback in a professional and collegial academic environment. The conference also encourages active and engaging discussions among paper presenters, discussants, and participants, fostering meaningful academic exchange and potential research collaborations. In addition, the conference features thought-provoking keynote addresses delivered by renowned scholars and distinguished experts in the fields of consumer economics, family economics, and related disciplines.
Call for Submissions
The main theme of the 2027 ACFEA Biennial Conference is “The Future of Household Consumption and Financial Well-Being.” We warmly welcome faculty members, researchers, and graduate students from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. We invite submissions ranging from work-in-progress papers to completed manuscripts with the potential for journal publication. We welcome empirical, conceptual, and theoretical research addressing a broad spectrum of issues related to household consumption, family economics, and financial well-being. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Aging and household consumption
- AI and consumer decision-making
Submission Guidelines
Submissions may take the form of full papers, extended abstracts of at least 1,000 words, or PowerPoint presentations. There are two ways to submit your contribution. Please choose one of the following methods:
1. Online Submission

2. Email Submission
Please send your submission to the ACFEA Secretary at asiancfea@gmail.com. The subject line of your email should be:
Submission to the 17th Biennial Conference of ACFEA – [Author’s First Name] [Author’s Last Name]
All submissions should be written and presented in English. However, for review purposes, submissions written and presented in Chinese are also acceptable from scholars from China.
All accepted submissions will be included in the electronic conference proceedings for informal online dissemination. The proceedings will be made available on the ACFEA conference website, www.asiancfea.org.
Full papers and extended abstracts should follow the formatting guidelines provided at http://www.asiancfea.org/?submission-guideline,130.
If a submission is accepted, at least one author must pay the conference registration fee by April 30, 2027, and commit to attending the conference and presenting the paper.
